Hot flashes & Night Sweats..What are the causes?

You reach that certain age..and like your mother and grandmother before you…you
suddenly, out of nowhere, start to “burn up” – as if you’ve just walked into an oven.
You get hot - very hot. You turn up the air conditioner, fighting over the thermostat
with your co-workers and family members.

At night it gets worse...you wake up drenched in sweat, tossing and turning and
throwing off all the sheets and blankets. Your PJ's are wringing wet and it’s another
night of lost sleep.

Why is this happening...what is causing this...how can I get relief.

Hot flashes and night sweats are usually associated with "the change" or
menopause. Commonly, changes in estrogen as we go through menopause trigger
hot flashes and night sweats. However, hot flashes and/or night sweats can occur at
any age.

Other Causes of Hot Flashes

There are many different causes of hot flashes.  Some of the most common causes
are due to kidney, liver and small intestinal dysfunction. The body is trying to rid
itself of toxins or excess estrogen through these systems and gets overloaded
causing the body to trigger biochemical changes in circulation. This change in
circulation causes a momentary sensation of heat that may be accompanied by a
red, flushed face, sweating, dizziness, and a pounding heart.

Certain medical conditions and medications can also cause a person to experience
hot flashes.  Diseases that can cause hot flashes include :
Panic disorder, Infection,  Cancer,  Diabetes, Thyroid disease and  Obesity.

Food allergies, stress, caffeine, alcohol, cigarette smoke and spicy foods can trigger
hot flashes as well.

How do you determine what is causing your individual hot flashes and night sweats?

We utilize many testing formats to determine the best approach to balance your
body naturally such as: female hormone saliva testing, blood tests, and food allergy
testing.

Treatments for Hot Flashes and Night Sweats

The traditional medical approach is to prescribe hormone replacement creams or
pills.  However, even short-term hormone therapy carries some risks, including
blood clots and gallbladder inflammation.

You may have already tried hormone replacement therapy and it did not work or
worked for a little while but now they are back.  What can you do?

We recommend a natural approach that gets to the underlying causes
of the hot flashes and night sweats without the side effects you get
from prescription hormones.
